Factoids . . .

Benjamin:

Loves to watch Mythbusters with Dad. Today on our walk he tried to pop the stroller tires with his wagon tires. He was pretending there was a spike on his. "Just wyke mifbusters!" he tells me. Oh boy.

He is crazy for corn on the cob and broccoli. Such a wonderful surprise.

Loves digging in the dirt.

Sings along to almost every song, and he knows the words to a lot of them. My favorite ones to hear him sing are, "Break Your Heart" by Taio Cruz, "Baby Oh" by Justin Beiber, and the "Tangled" credits song. So funny.

He loves to ride his bike outside with the neighbor kids, but still refuses to peddle so his feet get stuck under the seat all the time.

He has officially entered the "a'cuz why mommy?" phase. It is always so cute and funny when other kids do it. But when you have heard for 5 billion times in the last ten minutes the cuteness fades.

My latest trick for getting Ben to sleep is the "Suess Method." That's right. I read him Dr. Suess until he falls asleep. Usually about a story and a half. I feel good because we get in good reading time and he goes to sleep without a fight.

Coleson:

Still trying really hard to crawl. He usually gets stuck in plank pose for a few seconds and then collapses. Yesterday, he launched himself off both of his back feet and actually made some forward progress, but he scared himself to death.

He is absolutely done with nursing. I can't decide how I feel about it. One minute I am heartbroken and the next I am celebrating because I don't have to try to feed him with Benjamin mauling both of us. Cole loves all food. We haven't found anything that he doesn't like. He eats: bagels, mac and cheese, snap peas, bananas, spaghetti, rice, pancakes, mangoes, and most recently dirt. Awesome.

Nights are still rough. The last few nights he has only been up at 12:30 am and 4:30 am. Which isn't horrible, but I am really missing my baby that slept all the way through the night. He hasn't been the same since he got sick a few months ago. Boo. I really really don't want to sleep train him, but this momma needs some sleep!

Cole loves to play with the curtains in his room. He grabs them and shakes them and laughs and laughs and laughs. So cute.

His favorite toy lately is the infant tylenol bottle. He is not a fan of a binky at all, but he will chew the tylenol bottle forever.

He refuses to take a bottle. He has to have a sippy cup just like his big brother. What a nut!

Soccer!

I am officially a soccer mom! Well, sort of. The first week of soccer I was the substitute coach. Ben refused to play. He made me carry him up and down the field while I tried to coach our team. He cried the whole time. Our team got creamed. We played the Manchester United of 3-5 year olds.  We only had three brave little girls playing against eight boys who could rotate in and out. Luckily, they didn't really know they were getting beat. I think they still had a good time.
This week Ben actually took the field!!! Big step. He participated in warm-up and even helped with a kick off. Granted he kicked the ball two or three times and then came running and crying to the sideline, but he played! Hopefully, by the end of the season he will be a contributing player!
Grandma Gwen was there to help Ben through this traumatic soccer game. Her days of being a soccer grandma are just beginning!
Cole cheered on big brother as best he could, but mostly he wanted mommy and the baby food I brought.
Check out those skills! He is very proud that he can drop kick a soccer ball all by himself.
This is Ben and his best pal Brynner! They are the best of friends. Brynner is so so nice to Ben. He puts up with all of Ben's bossiness and loves him anyway. The jerseys are slightly on the HUGE side, but I think that makes them all the more adorable!
Brynner especially loved me during the soccer game because I brought him some "super juice" aka Gatorade! We forgot to tell Brynner to not eat the orange peel. Oooops.

Best Buddies! from Britta Bruderer on Vimeo.
Ben did go play with dad at halftime! When there weren't any other kids on the field of course.

Aaaaahh. The best of part of any soccer game. The treats!!!

8 months!

Oh my baby boy!! He is growing up so so fast. I feel like I am posting about him getting another month older every other day.
We are starting to get back to a better sleep schedule. Hallelujah. He is a little piggy. I swear he eats more in one day that Ben does. He literally will eat anything. I have never seen him reject any kind of food. He loves it all.
He is still desperately trying to figure out crawling. He can get himself up on all fours in a plank position, but then he usually crashes or slides himself backwards which makes him really mad because he is now farther from whatever he is trying to reach.
"Da Da" is still his favorite word of choice. However, when he gets really mad there will occasionally be a "Ma Ma" thrown in there. "Ba Ba" is also showing up now and then. Maybe he is saying, "Ben." Yeah right. He is probably trying to send out a warning call that big brother is about to attack, again. Poor Cole is gonna have to get tough quick to survive his brother.
Coley still LOVES his toes. He like to be held facing out so that he can play with his toes while you hold him. He is still my little sunshine ball; always, smiley, happy and sweet.
So typical. Ben attacking and Cole trying to escape or yell for reinforcements.
Such a cute moment, but I would be lying if I didn't say that I was mostly terrified. I was so afraid that Ben was going to take of at full speed and launch Cole right out of the wagon!
But they do love each other.

Dynamic Duo

It is no secret that Jason is Ben's favorite person in the world. He adores his Uncle Jason. Ben seriously cries tears of joy when he sees Jason walk in our door, and he sobs when he leaves. He can't wait to show Jason all of his toys and drag him everywhere. Nobody else can talk or play with Jason though. As far as Ben is concerned, Jason belongs to just him.
Who can blame him for loving him so much when he takes him on such fun wagon rides in the backyard?

what a day

Finally a nice warm spring day! We were outside all day! Ben and I have the  sunburns to prove it. I haven't seen the sun in so long I have forgotten the purpose of sunscreen! Oops.
Ben emptied all the dirt out of my planter onto the porch. Perfect.
Ben raced his Lightning McQueen bike everywhere. He was on a "bug hunt" for potato bugs.
Cole just sat and soaked up the sun and tried to avoid being tackled as much as possible.

Oh, and he smiled and smiled and smiled. Just like always.
Ben was really, really good at hiding. I couldn't find him anywhere!!
Hmmmm. That is an odd looking tree. . .
Check out these lashes!! Get out. Why do boys gets lashes like this?
We laughed a lot too!
