Hi there Britta!
Some stitches quietly do all the heavy lifting, and the straight stitch is one of them.
It's just a single stitch, used on its own or grouped to create a design, but it's the foundation for so much of what we make.
Line a few up along a path and you've got a running stitch, or lay them side by side and you're building toward satin stitch.
What we love most is how flexible it is. You can use one straight stitch to form a simple leaf, or fan a few out from a single point to shape a star.
There really aren't any hard and fast rules here, just plenty of room to play and see what you can create.
We've put together a full guide to walk you through it step by step, so you can start using this versatile stitch in your own designs.
