Here's what's happening this week at Clever Poppy.  In today's email: On the Blog: Long and Short Stitch Member's Personalised Baubles creations Gorgeous Honey Bee using Thread Painting technique Shop News: Little Bunting is back! In my world: Splish Splash On the Blog... Long and Short Stitch If you are feeling inspired to challenge yourself, give this technique a go! It is one you will be sure to fall in love with. Long and Short Stitch is often used to fill in larger shapes with a nice and even texture. This is great in place of Satin Stitch, because sometimes Satin Stitches can become a bit wobbly if the stitches are too long. This technique is often called 'Thread Painting' and can be used to create texture for a realistic effect in embroidery patterns as well as a shading and colour gradient effect. Cori shared this absolutely stunning framed version of our 'Soul Sister's' pattern, which she made for her mum. What a beautiful way to show someone how much you care, by personalising the pattern to represent the giftees family and/or friends. She said: "Soul Daughters for my mum's 70th birthday.  She cried and then made me pose the frame in the garden, haha!" 'Personalised Baubles' Member Creations... I have been loving seeing our members share their versions of our Personalised Bauble pattern lately, and getting into the festive spirit! It is so inspiring to see all of the creative ways people have changed up the pattern to be more personal to them. Below are just some examples of ones that have been shared. I just had to share this beautifully detailed Honey Bee piece, by embroidery artist and author Emillie Ferris. All of her work is inspired by nature and she uses a technique called 'Thread Painting' with the 'Long and Short' stitch to make her art look incredibly realistic, detailed and to create gorgeous colour gradients. Her work is oh so inspiring!  You can check out her instagram profile here for more of her embroidery art.  New Festive Ampersand Design Due to popular request, I've added an ampersand (the & symbol) to the Festive Alphabet pattern! Now you can personalise your designs even more by combining letters. I think this will be a great option for wedding or anniversary pieces. To find the ampersand option, just flick to the very end of Part 2 of the Festive Alphabet Pattern Guide, and you'll see the design and stitched example after the letter Z. Shop News... Our Little Bunting pattern is now back in stock, with a beautiful new Kona Cotton piece of fabric – woo hoo! Kona Cotton is really lovely to stitch on, with a nice close and even weave. I'm sure you'll love stitching on it just as much as I do! Also just a reminder we now have two of our new needle minder designs live in our shop, Floral Jar and Bees & Blossoms. Thanks so much to all of you who shopped our needle minder promotion, we were blown away with how popular the new designs are! So it has been all hands on deck dispatching your orders this week.   In New Zealand it was a long weekend just been, and lots of us were graced with beautiful weather. It sure feels like summer is on the way in this part of the world! We were lucky enough to spend another weekend away on the boat, and made the most of it with lots of fishing, catching up with friends and spending QT with Matt's family. I even got in a swim, which was pretty brave because the water was still quite cold! Matt tried to grab a photo, but this splash is the only evidence I have haha.   Once again I spent lots of time stitching, and I'm so excited to share the upcoming Nov pattern on the 1st.
