American Olympian Kirsten Kasper staged one of the most thrilling late-race comebacks of the season, claiming her second victory in only her third IRONMAN 70.3 race of her career. The Deficit: After a choppy swim and strong bike ride, Kasper entered T2 in third place, but over five minutes behind the leader. The Hunt: Staying as cool as a cucumber, Kasper methodically erased the deficit unleashing the fastest run split of the day with a 1:19:33 half marathon split finishing in a time of 4:00:50. A complete performance, start to finish. Lydia Russell followed with a strong 4th place finish, working back from a challenging swim and steadily moving through the field. On a day where things didn’t go to plan early, she stayed composed—settling into the race, trusting the process, and pushing through the mental battle to finish with a consistent, hard-earned result.
