Hey, it's Julie here,

I hope your July has kicked off to a good start!

In today's email:

  • Weaving supplies for beginners

On the Blog...

What Beginner Weaving Supplies do you Need to Create your First Woven Wall Hanging?

It may seem daunting to start out in the world of weaving, but once you know what supplies to use, you'll feel much more confident about getting started!

And weaving is one of those crafts where the supplies really do matter! There are lots of products out there on the market that aren't that great to use. Plus, there are lots of different types of looms to choose from (#confusing)!

But if you invest in supplies that work well from the beginning, this will save you so much frustration with your weaving and make the whole process so much more enjoyable

Head on over to this blog, to learn what beginner supplies you need to get started in this amazing craft.

What have our makers been up to?

I'm super excited to see the first example of my new Soul Sisters pattern pop up in our member's group! Wow Sheena has dived right in and done such an amazing job.

What's inspiring me on the creative front...

Progress over Perfection...

I have been thinking a lot about one of my key values here at Clever Poppy, which is 'Progress over Perfection'. It's something I truly believe in, because learning is full of mistakes and improvement. And if you embrace this concept, rather than focusing on creating a perfect result, the whole journey becomes so much more enjoyable and rewarding

My members often mention it when they post in our group, and how it's allowing them to grow and have fun along the way.

I have to say, it's definitely something I need to constantly remind myself of too! But it's important - otherwise I'd never be able to share so many tutorials and patterns with you all.

I'm trying to keep it top-of-mind as I crank through work before the School Hols start.

So hey, what is something that you would love to do, but fear of how 'good' you'll be, is holding you back?

Anything big or small, hit reply and let me know, so you'll be accountable to give it a go!

Something you might like to try

I'm not usually a fan of reality TV these days, it's all become so focused on the drama hasn't it? But there is an exception...and that's Master Chef. Which I've been really enjoying this season here in NZ! They create such amazing dishes, and are all so genuinely championing of each other.

My MIL sent me a link to this 'Chinese Smashed Cucumber' recipe by one of the contestants Sam. I made it, the whole family loved it, and I had to share it.

And I know that cucumbers can be like gold these days, so I thought it might be a good way to get the most out of one!

In my world...

We had a busy weekend with Piper's birthday on Saturday. I can't believe she is already six! She is such a wonderfully vivacious little character, I can only imagine what she will be like in another 6 years (gulp).

Sushi Train at the end of the day was definitely a hit, and I totally recommend it as a restaurant option for a dinner out with kids. The food arrives fast, there's good entertainment value watching the conveyor belt of dishes roll past, and it's a great way to get them to try something new food-wise! The kids were also able to understand the maths around how fast the cost of a dinner out adds up too (which is a good less these days huh!?).

On the creative front, thank you all so much for your support of my new Stitching Hairstyles Embroidery Course! We were blown away with the interest, and I can't wait to see all the progress happening through the course.

Only 3 days til school holidays begin, so there is a lot of work to get done in advance. I better get back to it, Matt is cracking the whip!

I hope you all have a fab week :)

Julie xx.

P.S. Here's a progress update of a new pattern I'm working on. I'd love to hear what you think of the colours?
