| | Join our team as a stitcher! | | We are super excited to let you all know that we are looking for someone super stitchy to join our team here at Clever Poppy! We're looking for a superstar to help with: - Stitching up patterns to a beautiful standard
- Taking awesome photographs of the finished piece (mobile phone or camera)
- Capturing crisp video footage of the process and finished piece (i.e. hands in the frame stitching)
This would be a remote contract role, which we pay on a per-pattern basis. We will supply all of the embroidery materials and cover postage to and from our HQ. This role is only open to stitchers based in NZ or Aus – sorry if that rules you out, it's purely logistical for now. If this makes you jump up and down and throw your hand in the air, please apply as follows: - Gather some photos of your previous embroidery work, and examples of the type of video footage you can capture.
- Create a folder of this work in either Google Drive or Dropbox
- Send us an email which includes a link to this work.
- Tell us a little about yourself and embroider experience in the email.
- Email: matthew@cleverpoppy.com
| | On the Blog... How to Transfer Photos onto Wood | | I love finding new ways to display photos, especially in this super digital world we live in. So, let me show you how to make these gorgeous little photo rounds. The whole process is really fun and intriguing, and it's a great project to do with the kids. Plus, these rounds would make super cute DIY Christmas gifts or decorations (your parents will love transfers of your little ones). Learn how to make your own here. | | What have our Makers been up to? | | Tis the season to get stitching... Christmas decorations, that is! Our wonderful member, Heather, stitched this gorgeous decoration. She said: "I borrowed the tree from The Night Before Christmas to make this cute ornament for a gift exchange at work. I love it so much!!" I just know Heather's colleague is going to love hanging it on her tree! | | Doors to the membership are open! | | We've opened up the doors to new members one last time for the year. So if you want to join our wonderful stitchy community, get access to all of my digital patterns, discounts in our shop, plus a whole lot more amazing resources, this is your chance! Just click the link below to learn more and join today. | | What's inspiring me on the creative front... | | Isn't this dried floral wreath by Layla of @laylarobinsondesign simply stunning?! I just love the warm tones of this unique piece, and the wild nature of it. Layla is an artist based in the UK, and all of her work involves creating beautiful pieces of art out of flowers. You can check out more pieces like this over here on her Insta page. | | For those of you that are into reading, I can highly recommend picking up the book 'Hillbilly Elegy' by J.D. Vance. The story is a passionate and personal analysis of a culture in crisis. The author goes into depth about his family history in Kentucky's Appalachia region, sharing the true story of his grandparents struggles with poverty and their attempt to escape this life. I found it such an interesting read. And so much of the authors musings ring true in any context – e.g. on generational trauma and how it takes a village to rise up from poverty. | | Welcome to Dec, everyone! If you're anything like me, an already busy schedule ramps up to the next gear this month. On top of a big workload, we've got a kids disco, after school activities, a family Christmas party, a birthday party, playdates, Christmas shopping, dinner out… the list goes on. But hey, all the cool stuff happening is totally a blessing and part of what makes life wonderful. So, I'm embracing the silly season wholeheartedly! I actually squeezed in a hike last weekend (the Pouakai Circuit in Taranaki), which I'll share some pics of below. It was my first 'proper' hike carrying a pack of my gear since I was about 15 years old. And boy, was it a challenge! But it was also an incredible experience with an amazing bunch of ladies. We've already planned our next one! Here at Clever Poppy HQ, my next few weeks will be focused on pattern development to bridge the gap over the upcoming summer break. Amy and Matt are busy with our 12 Days of Christmas Sale. We're working so hard on getting your orders out the door, and really appreciate all the beautiful purchases you are making. Have a great week, everyone. Remember to take some time for yourself! 😊 | | No longer want to receive these emails? Unsubscribe. Clever Poppy Ltd 39 Woodside Ave Northcote, Auckland 0627 | | | | |
