| | | | On the Blog... Beginner's Lazy Daisy tutorial | | | | If you are just starting out on your embroidery journey, then this sweet technique is definitely one you will want to learn and have under your belt. The Lazy Daisy stitch is a simple and quick stitch used to create petals and leaves, which is often used for many floral and nature inspired patterns (which are my favourite!). If you'd like to learn how to do this technique, which is featured in our 'Blooming Lovely' pattern mentioned below, you can check out this blog article for a simple tutorial. Happy stitching! | | | | | | | | What have our Makers been up to? | | | We just love how the slow craft of embroidery can help with mindfulness when you need it the most. How gorgeous is this version of our 'Blooming Lovely' pattern shared by one of our new members, who enjoyed stitching this up during a rough week. She said: "Final touches complete. My kids helped me pick colors 🥰 We've had a very rough week as a family and this was my go-to mindfulness activity." | | | | | What's inspiring me on the creative front... | | | I wanted to share with you the beautiful work of embroidery artist Sophie Timms, of Mindful Mantra Embroidery (@mindfulmantra_embroidery). I have been following her for quite some time now and whenever I see her patterns, I am just so in awe of how pretty they are! She does the most beautiful autumn designs, and this autumn inspired coffee cup piece below is one of my favourites of hers. You can tell she is really creative and her love for embroidery really shines through in her art. I also feel a connection with Soph, because she gave up a career in law to follow her passion for embroidery (like me!). If you'd like to check out more of her work, you can go to her instagram page here. | | | | | | | I came across this hilarious instagram page the other day and I thought it was sooo funny and clever! It all started with a Dad called Tom ( @thingsihavedrawn) who has taken his kids drawings and turned them into real life things using photoshop. Like this hilarious 'dolphin' below. Imagine if dolphins actually looked like this in real life?!! Haha! If you are needing a giggle then definitely check out more of these on his instagram page here. | | | | | | Shop Highlight...Blooming Lovely | | | I have seen so many beautiful versions of this pattern stitched by our members, in many different ways - it really is timeless! This is a great starting point if you are a beginner with embroidery, as it features all of our foundation embroidery techniques; including Back Stitch, Lazy Daisy, French Knots, Satin Stitch and Woven Rose. So once you have learned these techniques you can put them to practice in this pattern! We have a pattern kit available for this design, which includes the printed pattern guide, a piece of cotton fabric, all of the threads needed and a beech wooden display hoop. | | | | | | | Blooming Lovely Pattern Kit |
| | | | | | | | We've had an action packed week, with so much going on both at Clever Poppy HQ and behind the scenes! First of all, it's been all go with rolling out shipping from our US fulfilment centre. Thanks so very much for all of your lovely orders and support, each one is so appreciated. I've been cranking away on patterns and new tutorials. Matt and Amy have been working on orders, packing kits and sorting stock levels. I'm glad that's not on my plate, and that Matt has a very logical and mathematical brain, perfect for supply chain management! We also had a trip away to the Marlborough Sounds, where Matt sailed with some of our mates in a regatta. I convinced my wonderful parents to come babysit the kids, which meant we got a kid-free trip away. Say what?! We managed to jam-pack so much fun stuff into 4 short days, as you do. Matt had an epic time sailing, and his crew even took out first place! Meanwhile us girls had a lot of fun of our own – we commandeered a fizz-boat to zoom around the Sounds, watch the sailing and visit some beautiful spots for 'refreshments'. We also did something from my bucket-list, which was biking around the vineyards in Marlborough. I love learning all about wine at the cellar door, and tasting it off course. I can confirm the entire region is a must-visit destination here in NZ! Let's just say I have a lot of work to catch up on this week, but it was worth every moment. I better get back to it – have a great week everyone! | | | | | | | | | | No longer want to receive these emails? Unsubscribe. Clever Poppy Ltd 39 Woodside Ave Northcote, Auckland 0627 | | | | | | |
