| | | | | We are sooo excited to announce that next month's pattern is going to be in collaboration with guest artist, Tatum Schumann of @threadedbytatum! I have always admired Tatum's embroidery work, her style is all about beautiful botanicals with lots of intricate details and soft colours inspired by nature. I cannot wait to share what she has created for you all next month, it's going to be such a wonderful addition to our pattern library! If you'd like to see some of her beautiful work for yourself, you can go to her Insta page here. | | | | | | Home Sweet Home Live Workshop | | | Have you heard the news?! We are running another live workshop soon, to make our brand new pattern Home Sweet Home! Our workshops are a fantastic way to learn embroidery, in a supportive group where we focus on progress and fun (not perfection!). The first live lesson kicks off on Sunday 7th May (PDT). If you'd like to join in on the fun, just click the link below to sign up. And do you have any friends or fam who would like to learn embroidery? If that's a yes, then please share this link with them too! We look forward to seeing you in the workshop group. | | | | | | | | On the Blog... A Beginner's Guide to Long and Short Stitch | | | Have you checked our our new and improved Long and Short Stitch tutorial, over on our blog yet? When I created our 'Spring Meadows' pattern (which features a lot of this technique), I fell in love with the process of this stitch. I think that's partly because I figured out a way to stitch it in a manner that's a bit more free and chunky, compared with the more traditional method. Of course I want to share what I've learnt with you, so that you can enjoy a modern take on this technique too! So I have updated the tutorial for Long and Short Stitch here on our blog. I think you are going to find it really helpful. Yay! | | | | | | | | | What have our Makers been up to? | | | How beautiful is this version of our new 'Spring Meadows' pattern, shared by Staci? She said: "Progress over perfection! I loved stitching this one up and all the long and short stitching is very rewarding. I really don't care for my color choices though. Up until now I've been able to use what I had on hand and make it work, but I wish I'd used the recommended colors or used more variety to make it pop. It was great practice though, looking forward to making another version." We think you've done a wonderful job Staci, and the colours look lovely! | | | | | | What's inspiring me on the creative front... | | | Have you ever felt inspired to upcycle your favourite jeans? If that's a yes, then check out this amazing work by embroidery artist Theresa of @get.stitch.done. Her work is sassy, cheeky and yet sooo beautiful (I just love it!). The design she stitched here is actually by Sophie of @mindfulmantra_embroidery (another artist I admire so much). They wrote a book together and this is one of the patterns featured – apparently the book is coming out in English soon. I truly love how our embroidery community is all about 'community over competition'! If you'd like to check out more of Theresa's work, you can go to her instagram page here. | | | | | | | If you're anything like me, you find a messy home hard to relax in (I mean, how do the kids create such chaos in such a short amount of time?!). Which is why I knew this podcast episode from Good Inside with Dr. Becky might be helpful. She talks to other parents about how mess affects them, and talks through strategies of how to manage mess, both practically and mentally. You can check out the episode here. Feel free to hit reply and share your thoughts, I'd love to know what you think! | | | | | | | We're into week 2 of the school hols here, and it's all go! The kids cousins and my sister have come to stay for the week, yippee! We have quite a small home so it's a bit like mayhem, but luckily the kids are old enough to kick around outside and burn off steam. The trampoline has been worth its weight in gold so far! We've got lots of fun day trips planned, and I know my kids love showing off their neighbourhood and city to their Wellington fam. Let's just say there isn't a lot of 'me time' and stitching happening haha, but hey, plenty of time for that later! On the Clever Poppy HQ front, we're all super pumped about finally opening up spots to the upcoming Home Sweet Home Workshop, woo hoo!! I'm really excited to help so many of your learn embroidery, and improve on your skills. I honestly get such amazing feedback about our workshops. They're lots of fun, and we make them as down to earth as possible! And people are often quite astonished by what they can achieve in just 5 sessions. So if you've been watching from the side lines and thinking you'd like to try, but you haven't been quite brave enough to take the plunge, then now's your chance! Just sign up using this link, and I'll see you over in our workshop group. Have a great rest of your week everyone! | | | | | | | | No longer want to receive these emails? Unsubscribe.
