| | | | On the Blog... Tips For Embroidering Letters | | | Hands up who loves personalising their embroidery pieces with lettering? This is such a great way to add charm to your handmade creations, and make your recipient feel extra special. Adding names, phrases or initals is often the perfect finishing touch to an embroidery piece, and can make it more meaningful. I have lots of tips for stitching letters, which I have put together in this blog article. I hope this helps you on your embroidery journey, and gives you the confidence to start experimenting with lettering! | | | | | | | | | What have our Makers been up to? | | | We are always so humbled when we see members surprising themselves with what they can achieve with embroidery. Like our new member Kayla, who shared this gorgeous version of our 'Home Sweet Home' pattern. She said: "My very first piece! Until this, I had never picked up a needle in my life so I'm proud of how it turned out! There is a lot of room for improvement, but I have to start somewhere!! π₯°" | | | | | | What's inspiring me on the creative front... | | | There are sooo many incredible artists out there thinking of new ways to incorporate embroidery with other forms of art these days, and Lauren sure is one of them! Lauren is a mixed media embroidery artist, and specialises in embroidery onto photos and paper. She uses techniques such as thread painting and blackwork embroidery to create unique pieces. She also does custom embroidery pieces and DIY photo embroidery kits. I just love how she has elevated this photo by adding some beautiful floral thread painting. Wouldn't this look absolutely beautiful displayed in an album, or framed on your wall at home? If you'd like to check out more of her work, you can visit her instagram profile here. | | | | | | | If you're looking for a healthier alternative to what you usually buy on takeaway night, then here is a great tip shared by Registered Nutritionist Davinia Goods, of @zestyfoxnutrition. I swapped the dumplings for chicken karaage. Her sauce is super yum! Davinia is my childhood friend who is full of amazing info and help when it comes to women's health and family nutrition. If you have kids who are fussy eaters, then she is your go to! She also has loads of other helpful ideas and recipes over on her Instagram page here. | | | | | | | We had so much fun hosting the workshop last week, which was a resounding success! Then we opened up the doors to our membership, and it's been really wonderful welcoming a whole bunch of new members. A lot of my time over the past week + has been spent in the workshop and members Facebook groups – they are such an uplifting and positive place, so I feel very lucky to be hanging out there. On the home life front, we had a really nice Sunday celebrating Mother's Day. I'm not gonna lie, this year sure had mixed emotions, given Matt's mum has so recently passed. It made me realise what a loaded day this must be for so many of us, and how important it is to treasure each and every mum in our life. I got totally spoilt, mainly in terms of the things that really matter – not having to do chores (can I have that every day!?), getting some 'me time' (I've started the latest Seven Sister's book), and a couple of outings with the kids. When Matt picked up the overflowing washing basket at the end of the day, and started folding it all (while I watched from the couch nearby, stitching my latest pattern)… I don't think I have ever loved him more. Hehe, I'm sure many of you would appreciate that! Ok have a great week everyone | | | | | | P.S. We know a lot of you are itching to get your hands on our 'Summer Camper' pattern - rest assured I am working super hard on this behind the scenes, and I'm sure the 1st July will be here in the blink of an eye! So stay tuned... | | | | | | | | No longer want to receive these emails? Unsubscribe. Clever Poppy Ltd 39 Woodside Ave Northcote, Auckland 0627 | | | | | | |
