On the Blog... Stitch Techniques for Lettering

In last week's newsletter we shared our best tips for embroidering letters. This week, we are going to dive a bit further into the world of embroidering letters and explore which stitch techniques work best for different types of lettering.

Adding names and words to your embroidery pieces is a lovely way to personalise them, and there are a few different stitches that work really well for letters and words onto designs.

What have our Makers been up to?

We love the message that our member Breeze has added to this gorgeous version of our 'Progress over perfection' pattern. What a perfect way to personalise your piece by adding words that means something to your giftee!

She said: "This one took me a while. I changed the words first to Home Sweet Home but then decided that "You are Loved" were the words I most wanted to communicate to my sweet daughter-in-law. She said her favorite color was periwinkle, so I went with that. I hope she likes it! I have loved learning and finally having the ability to gift something handmade."

What's inspiring me on the creative front...

When this reel popped up on my feed from fibre artist Judit Just (@_jujujust_), it was sooo satisfying to watch, I had to share it with you! Who knew the sound of scissors snipping could be so captivating?

Judit is a contemporary fibre artist who specialises in creating the most unique woven tapestries, full of texture and vibrant colours. I just love her style and the incredible skill it must take to make each weave.

Something interesting...

You may have heard a LOT in the media lately about the world of AI chat bots and search engines, and how this technology is developing massively at the moment. We use Chat GPT quite a bit here at work, and we're already so impressed at how it can help with copywriting and creating code.

It's certainly an area of technology that has massive implications, which I can barely get my head around. It's very exciting but also super scary!

So I wanted to share this podcast episode by The Daily - it was interesting to hear more detail about the new AI search engines that have been competing against each other, by Microsoft (Bing) and Google. There is also an entertaining follow up episode here, which went down a rabbit hole you might be quite astonished by. Check them out below and hit reply to let me know what you think!

In our world...

Hey it's Amy here! Matt and I are holding the fort here in the studio this week, keeping warm in the chilly rainy weather. Meanwhile Julie is away for the week, on a special family holiday with her dad and sister…no doubt sipping on tropical cocktails and bathing poolside in the warm island sun. We aren't in the least bit jealous are we Matt...hehe! I will be living vicariously through her photos she sends us while on holiday and dreaming of warmer weather...

The weekend was a bit of a blur for me as it went by so quickly. Being a mum to a busy toddler (I'm sure many of you can relate), weekends always end up sooo busy going out and about to keep him entertained. Here at Clever Poppy HQ, I'm keeping myself busy by getting stuck in with orders, sorting out stock, as well as preparing US kits for shipments. Matt always seems to have a spreadsheet or graph up on his screen, so I'm sure he's busy working some kind of mathematical magic too!
