I know you guys love my floral patterns, so here's another one for you... it's our Sunset Meadow beginner kit! This gorgeous sunny meadow is a wonderful first pattern for beginners in embroidery. It uses starter embroidery techniques such as satin stitch, woven roses, and French knots to create these sweet little flowers.

How to fill a square shape with satin stitch

Satin stitch is one of my fav stitches but I know it can be a tricky one, especially for beginners! So I thought I'd help you out with a video on how to fill a square shape with satin stitch. I also have videos on my channel for other shapes including circles and petals. The key thing with satin stitch is to add directional lines and also to not give up! I promise you that the more you practice the better you will get and in no time at all you won't even have to think about it- you'll just know what to do.

What's inspiring me on the creative front...

Mother and textile designer @rileysheehey proves that your art doesn't need to be big to stand out. This talented lady creates beautifully intricate art with tiny details and a whimsical woodland vibe. I'm obsessed with the series she's doing where she's painting one playing card a week for the whole year. To see beautifully painted eggs, cards, picnic baskets, doll decor, switch plates, and everything in between, check out her insta page.

DIY Butterfly Bookmark

This DIY butterfly bookmark by @mackenziee.alexiss is super cute! All you need to create your own is paper, a ruler (or book), scissors, and pens/colouring pencils. This crafty gal also has reels where she shows you how to create moth, frog, bat, fairy, and dragon DIY bookmarks too!

In our world...

Piper and I have been making the most of our last week at home before we join the boys on the boating adventure. The days fill up quickly when you throw after-school activities and catch-ups with friends into the mix. These busy days sure make me appreciate a little bit of slow stitching at the end…so my brain can slow down before bedtime.

On the work front, I've been busy recording video tutorials for most of the week. We're getting awesome feedback from customers on how these useful these are, and how they make the learning experience fun and down to earth. That's what I'm here for!

I'm also super excited to release Sunset Meadow as a beginner kit this week. We always get requests for floral patterns, and I think this one has a lovely warm vibe. It might just be the start of a floral meadow series too – who's keen on a winter meadow, lilac meadow, wildflower meadow etc? I sure am!
