Home Sweet Home embroidery comp

Yay, I'm so excited to see these wonderful interpretations of Home Sweet Home in the embroidery competition at the 2024 Moss Vale Show in New South Wales. I especially love the winner of the 10 and under division with the cute little floral window boxes. And the all-green expert embroidery winner with the fishbone stitch tree is so cool!

Learn how to do straight stitch

Straight stitch is one of the simplest embroidery stitches so it's perfect for those starting out in their embroidery journey.

I think of straight stitches as a basic building block for lots of embroidery techniques– for instance, if you work a bunch of straight stitches along a line, you've created a running stitch.

Start out on your embroidery journey by trying this stitch.

Talented member Toni has adapted Sunny Bunny in such a creative way! We reckon this would make the perfect pattern to celebrate twins or as a gift for your partner or a friend who is getting married. 🥰

What's inspiring me on the creative front...

Have you ever seen someone paint with tape before? You have now! Sarah Stieber is an artist of 12 years and a painter of 10. She says that over the years she has really come to understand her aesthetic and learned to follow her curiosities. She is currently focusing on paintings with acrylics, tape paintings, murals, interior design, and custom jewellery. Get it, girl! Scroll her Instagram to see more of her incredible art.

Hilarious overthinking reel

This reel made our team laugh out loud. I'm sure it's relatable to most of us creative types. Plus, this lady's facial expressions and the audio are so hilarious. Who else can relate?

In our world...

It's back to Auckland for our fam bam, as our part of the boating adventure came to an end. We had an awesome last week, spent mostly at Port Chalmers in Dunedin. I spent my university years as a 'scarfie' in Dunners, so for me, it was a trip down memory lane visiting my old haunts. It was actually kind of strange walking around the beautiful University grounds, and the place where I'd lived… it all felt really familiar and nostalgic, but at the same time quite disconnected and out of context. This is not surprising given over 20 years have passed since those days (gulp). Overall I really enjoyed it and loved seeing this amazing part of the country again.

On the Clever Poppy front, it felt pretty good dropping both kids at school this morning, and coming into the studio. I'm writing this before I tackle my 'to-do list' and work out how much I need to achieve in the coming weeks. There will be lots of video tutorial creation, new kit production and planning for what's next. I love my job!
