| | On the Blog... Learn Whipped Back Stitch | | If you are looking for a way to create a nice smooth outline or border on your embroidery piece, then Whipped Back Stitch is the perfect technique. This fun technique creates height and a smooth line by simply wrapping back stitch with a continuous spiral of floss. You can keep the same colour or switch up the colours to create a cool candy cane effect. It's a great technique to learn once you feel confident with the basic stitches like Back Stitch. If you'd like to learn how to do Whipped Back Stitch, then you can check out our step-by-step guide here. Happy stitching! | | What have our Makers been up to? | | How gorgeous is this version of our new 'Summer Escape' pattern made by our talented member Cathy?! We are loving the colour palette she used for her background. She said: "Just finished this gem. Love how it turned out. If you hold it far enough away and squint it looks perfectπ I am so enjoying making these beautiful and fun pieces-I love that I can stitch a little walk away then stitch a little more. I am finding embroidery very relaxing." | | Home Sweet Home Workshop Replay... | | We are SO excited to announce we are hosting a replay of our free 'Home Sweet Home' workshop. So if you missed out last time, or just need some motivation to get stitching (in a fun environment!) then come along and join the fun! We will be kicking off with the first lesson starting Sunday 30th July (PDT). We look forward to seeing you there! You can register below. Also, if you have any friends or family that are keen to experience what embroidery is all about, then feel free to bring them along! Just share the below link with them to sign up. | | What's inspiring me on the creative front... | | When I saw this reel by Hannah Tizedes ( @hannahtizedes) turning plastic she collected from the beach into a colourful mirror piece, it really wowed me! Hannah is super passionate about sustainability, cleaning up our planet and making creative pieces of art out of trash. It's such a great reminder to look after our planet and be mindful of how we treat it! You can check out her Insta page here for more of her art and info on her cleanup projects. | | If you are looking for a cheap and cheerful (and super fun!) activity to do with the kids, then I highly recommend table bubbles! I did this with my two children Harvey and Piper in the school holidays and they had sooo much fun. All you need is water, dishwashing liquid, a capful of glycerine and straws to blow the bubbles with. Then see who can blow the biggest bubble! If you give this a try let me know, I'd love to hear what you think. | | Hi everyone! School hols are over and I'm back at my desk writing this. It sure is a bit more peaceful in my studio haha. And I said to Matt this morning – how lucky am I to have a job that I absolutely love coming back to?! I got SO MUCH pattern development done over the hols, which is super exciting! The more I do this, the more I realise that I really need a change of scenery, to give me space for creativity and idea generation. And holidays seem to do the trick, so that's win win for a work/life balance in my books! Here's a sneak peek of some upcoming designs: a cozy new pattern for my next live workshop, a floral photo frame to drop in time for Christmas gift making, and some cute festive animal designs. I hope these make you feel as excited for what's coming up as I do! Have a great week π | | No longer want to receive these emails? Unsubscribe.
