| | On the Blog...Learn Turkey Stitch | | The Turkey stitch is a wonderful textured stitch, which can add a bit of 'wow factor' to your embroidery pieces. It is used to create really cool raised embroidery effects, for example you'll often see it with a 'snipped' effect which is made by snipping all the tails quite short and fluffing them up, to create a densely packed area of texture. It can also be used for hair embroidery, making all kinds of different hairstyles which is super fun. If you'd like to challenge yourself by learning this stitch, you can check out our step-by-step guide over on our blog article here. | | What have our Makers been up to? | | Doesn't this version of 'Summer Escape' made by member Lisa just make you want to escape on a Summer adventure with your loved ones?! She said: "Summer Escape finished in time for August challenge #progressoverperfection, this is going to be hung in the caravan perfect place for admiring in the summer holidays". | | What's inspiring me on the creative front... | | Have you ever seen kitchen utensils embroidered before?! Well now you have, by my friend across the world Theresa of Get Stitch Done ( @get.stitch.done). She shared this cute piece with fluffy daisies - embroidered onto a sieve of all things! It's pretty amazing how she creates this work of art using yarn and Turkey Stitch. Theresa is known for her sassy, feminist embroidery pieces, as well as adorable animal designs. I realise her work isn't to everyone's taste, but I love it! And I really admire her for stitching what speaks to her soul. Believe me, so many women around the world appreciate and enjoy stitching her patterns so much! You can check out her insta page here. | | I just love Mel Robbins (as you may have already noticed!) as she always shares such helpful life advice and this post is a great example of that. She discusses 7 ways to show up for yourself, which I'm sure most people will find pretty helpful. Everything she writes and speaks about is sooo relatable, and I just love her sense of humour! You can check out her Insta page for more motivational advice here. | | We celebrated Harvey's 9th birthday over the weekend, with an epic rock-fishing adventure! It was a super early start to pick up some friends, then we headed out to a gnarly spot which had the perfect set up. We all had back packs and hands full as we lugged fishing rods, bait, snacks and other gear from the car park to 'spot x'. It was super cool to see the kids help and embrace the elements, which included sun, clouds, wind and sand whipping into our faces. We didn't land a big one, but the kids caught loads of bait fish which kept them entertained for hours! I think it will be an experience they remember for years to come, so it was totally worth the effort. Fair to say we were all tired campers by Sunday night! In the studio this week, I'm working on so many different things. The main goal is re-shooting a bunch of tutorials, plus Octobers 'Festive Friends' pattern. And I'm super excited to reveal our upcoming guest pattern on Friday…it's gonna be a goodie! Have a great week everyone x | | No longer want to receive these emails? Unsubscribe.
