| | On the Blog... An easy peasy guide to a Scalloped Wall effect | | For those that love DIY (which I'm sure is a lot of you!), a scalloped wall effect is a lovely simple way to elevate any girl or boy's room. It creates a beautiful background, which is perfect for displaying your beautiful finished hoops against. I added this to my daughter Piper's room awhile back, and it has really created such a soft and playful atmosphere. And the best part is, it is way easier to achieve than it looks! If you'd like to learn how to do this effect, you can find my blog article here with a step-by-step guide. I'd love to know what you think! | | What have our Makers been up to? | | How cute is this miniature version of our guest pattern 'The Birdhouse' by member Jessica?! We just love it when our members share not only their wins, but also their challenges along the way. She said: "Finished the tiny smooshed up version of the birdhouse. I did a hundred things wrong and changed a number of things but I learned a whole lot too! Satin stitch is still not my strength but I'm happy with it and the bees came out so cute!" | | What's inspiring me on the creative front... | | When I saw this incredible coral reef inspired piece by talented fiber artist Kasha of @kashacantillofiberart, I was super inspired to share it because it really transported me back to my recent trip to Rarotonga. All of her pieces are made by hand using macrame art, and are inspired by the ocean. I have never seen anything else like this in the craft world, she certainly creates some very unique pieces for hanging on your wall. If you'd like to check out some of her other beautiful work, you can visit her Instagram page here. | | You may remember me sharing in past newsletters about nutritionist Mikki Williden ( @mikkiwilliden), and her Monday's Matter plan which both Amy and I have been following for awhile now. I thought I would share with you one of our favourite breakfast bakes of hers, which is a weekly staple for a healthy start to the day. It tastes like a combo of a chocolate cake mixed with a protein bar, and you wouldn't even believe that cauliflower is one of the main ingredients! It's super high in protein, super delicious and even better - guilt free! You can enjoy the recipe here, or click the image below. Give it a try and hit reply to let us know what you think! | | Matt and I escaped for a weekend away to celebrate out 10 year wedding anniversary. Man has that decade flown by! We travelled up to the far north of New Zealand (also known as the 'Winterless North') and stayed in a cute off-the-grid cabin. We struck it lucky with epic weather – blue skies and barely a breath of wind. Unfortunately that meant incredibly cold mornings. And I'm not so sure that the region lived up to its 'winterless' reputation, as our breath misted in the air inside our cabin. Ha! But it was super fun and nice to spend some QT with just the two of us. And we're incredibly grateful for a bunch of friends who are like family back in Auckland (our kids had a blast with sleepovers both nights). Here at Clever Poppy HQ, its busy times as usual. I'm finalising our July pattern, so that we can ship kits to our fulfilment centre asap. It's going to be a goodie, and Amy has really enjoyed testing the pattern. Matt is off this week on jury service, doing his bit for our community. So he will be squashing in work during the early mornings and evenings, and spending his days at the courthouse. Which means I'll be full-time working-mum mode, doing all the school pick-ups and drop-offs, plus after school activities etc. It's gonna be a busy week, but once again I'm so grateful that our business allows flexibility like this. Ok that's all for now. I hope that wherever you are in the world, summer or winter, you get some sunshine in the coming week! | | No longer want to receive these emails? Unsubscribe.
