| | On the Blog... A guide to making your own Upholstered Headboard | | If you are into DIY and love a good project, you are going to love this one! An upholstered headboard is something that can make your bedroom really come to life, but bought ones often come with a hefty price tag. So if you're keen to save some money, here is our blog article with a simple step-by-step on making your own. | | What have our Makers been up to? | | We love it when our members get creative and get outside their comfort zones, by stitching something other than a hoop. Like these busy bags stitched with our 'Festive Alphabet' pattern, by our lovely member Kristin. She said: "Made these busy bags for restaurants and traveling for my 4 year old daughter and her cousins! They each picked their color schemes. My first attempt at straying from the colors on the pattern and doing something other than a hoop." | | What's inspiring me on the creative front... | | A lot of you will remember us sharing about the recent loss of my mother-in-law and Amy & Matt's mum Sue, and I was recently sent this beautiful post with a tribute to her which I had to share with you. These beautiful hand painted stones are created by NZ artist Vicki of Kiwi Dots, and they remind me of NZ Kina shells (which were one of Sue's favourite things to collect along the beach). These in particular were a special tribute in Sue's memory, made for her sister. You can check out the post and her other hand made creations here. | | If you are interested in self development and improving your mindset, then this is for you. I recently listened to this podcast episode by the awesome Mel Robbins @melrobbins (if you haven't gathered already I am a HUGE fan of hers), and it was mind-blowing! Basically she explains a hack for how you can stop worrying about what people in your life choose to do, so it isn't burdening your thoughts any longer. It is truly freeing once you embrace this, especially those with anxiety, so I would highly recommend checking it out. I would love to hear your feedback if you do! | | My goodness did the last week fly by! Matt finished up his jury service, then headed away to a sailing regatta for the weekend (which they won, woop!). I had a cute movie night at home with the kids on Friday night, and we watched Titanic. Which was so nostalgic – Kate and Leo were so young! I actually realised about halfway through that it was quite a scary movie for a 6 and 8 year old… Oops. I reassured Piper and Harvey that our kind of boating is nothing like the conditions on the Titanic in the 1912. They seem ok though and haven't mentioned the movie since…wish me luck! Since writing this the news has come about the submersible that has been looking at the titanic wreck and is currently in trouble. Gosh my heart goes out to them what an awful situation. This week I'm focused on getting a head with patterns. I'm working on an upcoming owl pattern on dark fabric. Plus developing ideas for my next live workshop pattern. Which leads me to a question you can help with - For my next beginner workshop, is there a theme or topic you'd like the design to feature? Hit reply and let me know! Thanks so much and have a wonderful rest of your week 😊 | | No longer want to receive these emails? Unsubscribe. Clever Poppy Ltd 39 Woodside Ave Northcote, Auckland 0627 | | | | |
