| | On the Blog... How to Bind your Hoop | | Have you ever heard of 'Hoop binding'? If you haven't, then let me explain why this might be helpful for you... If you find that your hoops aren't quite holding your fabric taut, and you have to keep pulling your fabric into place and re-tightening the screw, then binding your hoop is a really handy option! This method helps to give a more secure grip on your fabric, which means it will hold tight for longer. Let me know if you give it a try! | | What have our Makers been up to? | | Isn't this colour palette used for our member Evon's beautiful version of our 'Blooming Butterfly' pattern, just gorgeous? We just love the combination of the vibrant red colour of the florals in amongst the greenery, it really looks like it has been plucked from nature! She said: "Took me all week but it is done! I'm also knitting a bunny for a friend's grand-niece.  Multi crafting!  " Well done on getting to the finish line, Evon! | | What's inspiring me on the creative front... | | Doesn't this beautiful embroidered kitty make you feel so warm and fuzzy? Amy mentioned it reminded her of her ginger cat who passed away a couple of years ago, and I'm sure it would remind others of their furry friends. Catherine of @fox_and_blueberry is the talented artist behind this gorgeous piece. She creates vintage and nature inspired embroidery pieces, stunning knitted pieces detailed with embroidery, and watercolour illustrations. We also really feel for her being based in the Ukraine, with the prolonged war and stress that must go with it. Isn't it incredible how she can pour herself into her art and create such beauty, in amongst the chaotic reality going on in her world right now. We just wish we could give her a big hug! She shares her talents as a make up artist by turning herself into famous celebrities, using the power of make up. It truly is mind blowing how much she resembles her subjects! You can check out her reel here to see the end result. | | I'm very grateful that last week I got to sneak away for a whirlwind trip to Rarotonga! It was awesome to soak up some tropical sun, escape the daily routine, and get some QT in with my Dad and Sister. Not to mention being kid-free for 5 nights! To be honest I felt a bit torn because half the time I was thinking 'oh my gosh the kids would love this', and the other half I was revelling in the feeling of freedom I had. At any given moment I could read my book, go for a snorkel, or grab a cocktail…and no one was asking me for snacks or relying on me for anything. Haha it felt like bliss! But I absolutely can't wait for the moment we can go to the islands as a family too. Matt was a total legend holding the fort down at home while I was away – he takes this kind of thing in his stride which is awesome. He and Amy had a productive week at Clever Poppy HQ, and I feel so lucky we're a great team. On the work front for me – I am super excited to reveal our collab with guest artist Krista ( @she_the_bee) tomorrow to our members. I wasn't planning on stitching anything while I was on holiday…but then I thought 'who am I kidding, it's one of my fav ways to relax' and ended up stitching not 1, not 2, but 3 of her patterns!
