| | Guest Pattern for November... | | We are thrilled to announce that next month's pattern is going to be in collaboration with guest artist, Laine Irene of @laineirenedesigns! Laine is a talented embroidery artist with her business 'Laine Irene Designs'. She not only creates patterns with gorgeous and whimsical scenes, but really brings them to life with all of the small details. I have admired Laine's embroidery style for a few years now, (in particular her festive designs) and knew she was the perfect fit to design this festive pattern for us! I cannot wait to share what she has created for you all next month, it's going to be such a wonderful addition to our pattern library! If you'd like to see some more of her work for yourself, you can go to her Insta page here. | | On the Blog... How to finish your hoop with a fabric back | | If you have a completed embroidery piece waiting to be finished off, backing with a fabric back might be helpful for you (especially for those that just finished our workshop) as a way to present your piece for gifting to someone. Christmas is just around the corner, and what is more special than receiving a beautiful handmade piece of art? Finishing with a fabric back is another option if you are wanting something a bit more fancy than the gathered fabric method. It adds a nice polished look as well as helping your hoop to lay flat against the wall. You can learn how to do this here in our blog article, where we have a step-by-step guide. Have fun! | | What have our Makers been up to? | | This week we want to share some of the beautiful Cozy Cat variations shared in our recent workshop (member's versions included!). I had such a blast hosting this workshop, and we were sooo impressed by all of the progress made by everyone who participated. Here's some of the many examples... | | What's inspiring me on the creative front... | | There is something just so soothing about watching watercolour paintings being created, I have always admired this kind of art. When I saw this beautiful piece by Dutch watercolour artist Romana ( @trace_the_moon), I was in awe as I just loved how she combined watercolour paints with glitter, to really bring it to life and create something unique. Romana's painting style focuses around all kinds of botanicals and nature, using glitter and metallics to accent each piece. If you would like to see more of her work, you can visit her Instagram page here. | | If you are like me and have always wanted to create cakes for your kids birthdays that look super extravagant and have that 'wow' factor - yet you don't have the time to spend hours making and decorating a cake, then you are going to want to check out this super cute butterfly cake hack by @ohcakeswinnie. She walks you through a quick and simple way to decorate this without having to use a cake mold. It looks super achievable for anyone to make! Let me know if you give this a try, I'd love to know how it went! | | It was Matt's birthday over the weekend, so a big shout out to my hubby (and business partner of course)! We somehow managed to spend the day not rushing at all, which is totally Matt's vibe. And it was so nice to hang out, eat some yummy food, explore around Auckland, and just see where the day took us. On the creative side of things, I'm looking forward to a long weekend coming up, so that I can continue to work on pattern ideas. Oh and how exciting is it that our next guest pattern is with the lovely Laine of @laineirenedesigns? She has been such a pleasure to work with, and oh my gosh you're going to love the cute factor when you see the Christmas pattern she's designed. Stay tuned for the reveal on 1st Nov. Have a great week everyone! | | No longer want to receive these emails? Unsubscribe. Clever Poppy Ltd 39 Woodside Ave Northcote, Auckland 0627 | | | | |
