Hey, it's Julie here, I hope you are enjoying your week so far! Here's what's new this week at Clever Poppy. In today's email: - On the Blog: Don't be scared of Long and Short Stitch
- Member's fall inspired Bunny Blooms version
- Beautiful embroidered wedding bouquet replica
- Fun bubble activity to try with your kids
- In our world: Exciting things on the horizon
| | On the Blog... my modern take on Long and Short Stitch | | When I first started on my embroidery journey, I thought that this technique was quite complex and painstaking – which made me feel a bit daunted and hesitant to work with it. Then I realised that actually, there is a more modern way of working it, that is much freer, chunkier and more textured. Which turns out so beautiful too! And that's when I started to embrace this technique, and fell in love with it myself. I'll show you both ways in my tutorial which you can find here on the blog. | | What have our Makers been up to? | | If you are needing some fall stitching inspo, then check out this beautiful version of our 'Bunny Blooms' design shared by our member Mary. How gorgeous are the little pumpkins added?! She said: "My fall Bunny Blooms is now ready for display. I love working the pattern design. So glad that I discovered Clever Poppy and embroidery (again). 🦋🥰🦋" | | What's inspiring me on the creative front... | | There is just something about a stitched bouquet I love even more than an actual bouquet! I think it's the fact that it will last forever and you can literally stitch up any colour combo of florals you like. I was super inspired by this beautiful embroidered bouquet created by the lovely Bek of @beksstitches. Isn't it just gorgeous? You can swipe the photo to see the actual wedding bouquet she replicated. Bek is a talented embroidery artist I have been following for a little while now, and you can tell she has a huge passion for stitching anything floral, fun and bright. If you'd like to check out more of her embroidery art, you can visit her Instagram page here. | | If your kids are anything like mine and love anything to do with bubbles (doesn't every kid?!), then you will definitely want to check out this fun and simple activity idea by Ali of @play_adventures. Literally all you need is a few household items and you have a super fun way to keep your kids entertained! You can also check out more of Ali's activity ideas for young kids here on her Instagram page. | | We were lucky to have a long weekend here in NZ, with lots of sunshine! Our family went out boating and it was so nice to get fresh air, a change of scenery and some time with Matt's family. I even did a morning swim which was very 'refreshing'! I think I swum straight to the ladder and climbed out, but it sure woke me up. Here at Clever Poppy HQ we have so many projects underway. It's a constant juggle of moving different things along, prioritising and making sure we're all on track. But let's just say there are exciting things underway which we hope to reveal early next year. In the meantime, thanks so much for all of your feedback on my pattern testing lately. Here's a sneak peek below of some I'm working on. I better get back to it – have a great week everyone! | | No longer want to receive these emails? Unsubscribe.
